Beginners Guide to DSLR Photography

This workshop will cover subjects such as camera settings, exposure, metering and histograms, as well as focussing modes, drive modes and the difference between shooting RAW or JPEG.

You will learn about the exposure triangle and how aperture, shutter speed and ISO work together, and how each one will affect your images.

We will go through the various exposure modes and I will encourage you to move away from the full auto mode to use aperture priority, shutter priority and manual to fully control how your images will look.

This workshop is designed to be conducted on a 1 to 1 basis so that I can give you my full attention and ensure that you go away with more knowledge and confidence about your equipment and how to get the most from it. However, if you would like to bring along a friend who is also looking to get started with DSLR photography, or improve their knowledge, that would be fine.

The theory side of DSLR photography is important to know, but to learn effectively you need to be taking pictures and comparing the results, so we will make sure that you get plenty of practise taking pictures at different settings so that it all starts to make sense.

The workshop can be conducted in the comfort of your own home, or at a location of your choice.
